SAE signs BITMi “Code for Sustainability and Digitalization”
Since 3 February 2023, we have been committed to further focusing on climate protection and sustainable digitalization with the BITMi Code of Conduct for Sustainability and Digitalization. The Code includes the definition and implementation of specific measures and the continuous improvement of existing sustainability management.
The Code comprises three levels of sustainability efforts:
Level 1: Company level – Does the company act sustainably in its immediate environment?
As a global technology company, sustainability is an essential part of our corporate strategy. The three pillars of sustainability – ecological, social and economic responsibility – are taken into account in our corporate values. Our purchasing guidelines include sustainable product and energy procurement as well as reviewing the sustainability concept of our suppliers. Numerous other measures, such as saving energy in company operations and preserving biodiversity on the company premises, contribute to our responsible actions.
Level 2: Product level – Is the focus on sustainability in software development and in use by the customer?
Resource-saving hosting minimizes the application’s energy consumption right from the start. In addition, the application uses the low-code principle to reduce the amount of data to be processed and the energy required for storage and archiving. The application is compatible with all common operating systems via bidirectional interfaces, thus preventing the creation of data silos and duplicates.
Level 3: Customer level – Does the product help its customers to act more sustainably?
The platform digitizes the entire quotation process, eliminating manual effort such as searching for information in different systems or paper documentation. Incorrect quotations and configurations are avoided thanks to plausibility checks and the structure of the rules and regulations. Material wastage due to incorrect designs or incorrect orders is prevented and any reworking is stopped. By integrating sustainability features into the configuration, users can always see which product variant is the most ecological. This information can have a lasting influence on the decision-making process.
